Privacy Policy

This policy is in action from the 16. March 2024 onwards. Compared to the last version, there have been some clarifications that make it more clear how this document should be understood.

This policy applies both to the Routside website this document is presented on, and to the Routside app, developed by Yuri Honegger, available in the Google Play Store, App Store, or other sources.

For Routside to function properly, we must process and store some of your data. This can be divided in two parts: Data stored when using Routside without an account, and data stored when using Routside with an account.

Data Storage and Processing for Users Without Account

When an user uses Routside without having created an account, the app/website does not store and process any user-related data besides anonymous IP addresses or similar identifiers to identify and prevent malicious use. They are never used for tracking and advertisement and only serve to ensure the correct technical functionality of the app/website.

By opening a page or view displaying map data, you acknowledge thath this involves third-party services used to display map data (mapbox, google maps or apple maps depending on availability). We don't directly share any information with them, however, they might be able to indirectly gain insight into a users behaviour by looking at e.g. which parts of a map are loaded.

Routside requires your device location while running routes or for purposes such as finding and creating close-by routes. This data remains on your device or is only temporarily transmitted to our server to process a request such as searching close-by routes. The data will never be stored permanently or shared with anybody.

Data Storage and Processing for Users With Account

To guarantee functionalities like creating a route, an account is required. By creating an account, you agree that we might store and process account-registration-related data like your username and password. Additionally, routes and other content created using Routside can be stored and processed as well. This data will never be shared with any other service than Routside.

All account-related sensitive data like passwords is transferred over encrypted https, unless a user manually opens the Routside website via http. All traffic from the app always uses encryption.
